Dalaba and Mamou make useful bases for local-guided hikes, village stays and the slow discovery that the path between waterfalls can be better than the checklist. Farther southeast, Mount Nimba protects a remarkable and ecologically sensitive landscape shared across borders.

Guinea is not about polished comfort or precise timetables. It is about big nature, genuine adventure and encounters that refuse to be scheduled. Bring some French, build generous margins into the route, ask before photographing people and explore rural areas with guides who know both the trails and the communities around them.
